Employment: Minimal. Students with an M-1 visa cannot work while they study.
J-1 Visa (Exchange Visitor Visa)
Purpose: Students visiting as part of an approved exchange program, including university study, high school exchanges, research, and internships.
Eligibility: Sponsored by an approved educational or exchange program.
Employment: On-campus employment is permitted. Some J-1 students may be eligible for Academic Training (AT) for major-related work experience off campus.
